“My first love is violins,” Gatchell said. “I began playing at age 4 and attended luthier school as a teenager.” His training includes studies at The Violin Workshop in Cambridge, England, and the North Bennett Street School in Boston.
After studying in Vancouver, Brett built, repaired and restored antique instruments. He has now been working on instruments for 20 years “The best part about my job is giving something, otherwise silent, a beautiful voice.”
Elgin has been studying under Allen Gatchell for 7 years, working towards perfecting instrument repairs and set-ups. “I enjoy bringing old instruments back to life!”
Alfred studied under Phillip Injeian and co-built a few violins before moving to Florida to work and study under Allen Gatchell. “My favorite part about my job is restoring antique instruments.”
