Oswald Schilbach was a German violin maker born in 1862. He studied under E.W. Neumarker and worked for a while in Saxony. In 1887, Schilbach emigrated to New York. He was a very good maker but only produced 25 violins, 6 violas, and 2 cellos. He is renowned for his repair work. Schilbach passed away in 1947.
