Antique French violin made in 1938 in the workshop of Léon Bernadel, and pupil of Ernest Auguste and Justin Derazey.

Description

Léon Bernadel, born 1853 in Paris. He was the son and pupil of Ernest Auguste. Léon also studied under the renowned maker Justin Derazey. At the age of eighteen Léon joined Gand & Bernardel and worked there for many years. In 1899 Léon established his own workshop and began working there with his son, Léon Bernadel II. Léon Bernadel produced many fine instruments in his career, with one of his instruments even winning the bronze medal at the Paris World Exhibitions in 1900.
