Description
This violin by Charles Moinel is an excellent example of the work of Moinel and the legacy left by Nicolas Emile Cherpitel. In 1882 Moinel joined the workshop of Nicolas-Emile Cherpitel and in 1893, after the early death of Cherpitel, Charles Moinel carried on his mentor’s business until 1899, when he took over the business completely. Placing his name next to his late mentor’s, he went on to produce outstanding instruments under the label Moinel-Cherpitel until his death in 1945.
